Video/Safety Tre Jenkins has St. Mary’s heading toward a TCAL title … but what about the D1 Bracket?

Check out the midseason highlight tape from┬áSt. Mary’s 6-foot-1, 205-pound Aaron “Tre” Jenkins, certainly among the most athletic safety in The 209. The Rams are heavy favorites to win the Tri-City Athletic League title with a 5-0 mark, and would be 8-2 heading into the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 playoffs.

Check out the sequence 45 seconds into the tape: He comes up and jars the ball loose from a Mater Dei receiver – that doesn’t happen often to a Monarch – then blitzes from his safety position and makes a solo stop in the backfield.

The defending champions would be overwhelming favorites to win a second straight title, were it not for the Week 1 injury to sophomore QB Noah May. That’s forced WR Marcus Aponte to QB and has shifted the Rams’ emphasis from passing to rushing.

Where does that leave the Rams? Also in the D1 bracket will be Folsom (7-0), Franklin of Elk Grove (5-1), Sheldon (5-1), Oak Ridge (6-0), Jesuit (4-2) and perhaps even Granite Bay (5-1) from the Sacramento region … it’s a loaded field and the Rams could face this sequence in the final 3 rounds: Sheldon, Oak Ridge & Folsom.
